I've been too tired lately to stay up to read (or to blog). So here's a fitting photo to match how I've felt lately... just dreaming about having some extra time and energy to read.

This photo is deliciously autumn. Even though our typical Octobers in SoCal consist of hot, dry days with Santa Ana winds that wreak havoc on my sinuses, I like to imagine myself somewhere where the leaves change color.

When I was a kid, this was the image I had stuck in my head about where I wanted to read. I'm not sure where it came from, but when I actually tried it out, it didn't quite have the glamour and pizzazz that I was hoping for. It probably doesn't help that I'm not really an outdoors-on-the-grass kind of a girl to begin with.

This does look lovely though, doesn't it?

I ran my first 5k race last weekend in support of the Girl Scouts of America. It was the New Day 5k race held here in San Diego. I have been training for about 4-5 months using the Couch to 5k program and now the Bridge to 10k program on my iPhone. I finished a little under 37 minutes and ran faster than I thought I would. According to the race results, I placed 30th in my age category out of 104 and 197th overall out of 800+. Praise God for a wonderful race!

Now onto a 10k!

Happy 30th birthday my wonderful husband, Adam!

He finished his first 10k race this morning under an hour and we are so proud of him.

I have been so blessed to have shared almost all of my 20's with you, Adam. I am looking forward to this new decade with you together as a family.

This was my first week of the 2011-2012 school year. Needless to say, I am exhausted! It was exciting to start the year off fresh and get a whole bunch of new students excited about reading.

This photo shows how I felt most of this week - exhausted from the day, but not willing to give up my late bedtime staying up to read. Summer break has gotten me in the bad habit of staying up late and it's a hard habit to kick.

We are traveling this weekend and one of the things I love most about traveling is the time to read. I actually do my best reading on airplanes because there's no other distractions. Well, that was all pre-baby, but I'm still bringing along my book just in case.

I'm finally going to start Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. That's my book of choice for this trip.

What's your favorite reads to bring along with you when you travel?

One of the things I'd love about living in a big, busy city are the used book sales on the streets. I'd love to spend this weekend perusing and browsing through one to find that one special deal on a book that's been sitting on my TBR (to-be-read) list.

I really don't need any MORE books in my home... but I can always make room for one more, right? Or two. ;)

I apologize for the lack of posts lately. My daughter's been sick with the fever and stomach flu for the last 4 days and it's been a tough week! Hopefully she's on the up and up now and life can return to normal.

That being said, I am longing for a day where I just lay in bed and curl under the covers with a book. Mmm.... that would be lovely.

Weekend Event :: Los Angeles Times Festival of Books

I am so excited about attending this event this weekend! I have been itching to go to this ever since I found out about it last year. Can't wait to share my experience with you all afterwards!
