Day Three: Networking
I wish I had more to say about this, but I am still learning about networking. As a wife, mom, teacher on the weekdays, photographer on the weekends and a book blogger in between... there are only so many hours in a day. I am happy to say that I do frequent our local bookstores, both independent and Barnes and Noble bookstores. I wish I were more extroverted and put myself out there to build a relationship with them as a book blogger!
One of my favorite author events and signings is the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. This was my 2nd year attending and it's the closest thing we've got on the West Coast to a BEA. Lots and lots of authors attend and it is such so much fun to meet them and other fellow readers.
I hope to get to know more local book bloggers. If anyone is down to host a SoCal meetup, let me know!
Even though I haven't met many people in real life, I am thankful for the few online buddies that I've made along the way. They are so supportive, encouraging and I just love talking books with them!
Make sure to come back for Day 4: Beyond the Blog!
Busy schedules do play a role. I still haven't made it to a signing yet.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun "meeting" you yesterday for the twitter chat (hope the one today is going well). I'm actually heading to ALA this month, which is in LA. Any chance you'll make it there?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to one day go to a big event! My first one will probably be the Southern Festival of Books here in Nashville, which I think is similar to yours. I agree, it's challenging to meet people!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my Armchair BEA Networking Post!!
Author events are fantastic! Great ways to meet people in the book world!

Wow, you are one busy person! Your blog looks fantastic, though. I love meeting up with book bloggers, it's so much fun! The LA Book Festival sounds like a blast. Makes me wish that I could live in California! Have a blast, though! =)

Today has been so refreshing to know that I am not alone in wanting to be more extroverted hehe :) If I were in the SoCal area I would go for it but I am on the other side of the country! Good luck!

It's hard when you're busy and have lots on! Online friends are great because you can always find someone around to chat to whenever you have a few minutes to pop on.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, do I hear you about the time issue! My blogging time is during naptime and after the kiddos are in bed...and by then I'm so worn out! Life is busy :)
